BOX OFFICE(Weinstein Co.)
(Lionsgate)
The Possession, inspired by a 'true story' about demons, is expected to win a sluggish Labor Day Weekend box office.
The horror film is tracking toward $17 million for the extended four-day period.
That would be enough to beat out another new release, Lawless, starring Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf as Prohibition-era bootleggers.
Lawless ($13 million) should edge holdover action star bonanza The Expendables 2 ($12 million) for second place.
A tight battle for the #4 spot is brewing between The Bourne Legacy and ParaNorman, with both films on pace for roughly $10 million.
Family movie The Odd Life of Timothy Green ($7.5 million) is in line for sixth place, ahead of political comedy The Campaign ($7 million) and blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises ($7 million).
The right-wing documentary 2016: Obama's America should remain in the Top 10 with about $5.5 million, with Hope Springs expected to finish with $5 million or so.
