BOX OFFICEThe Amazing Spider-Man is turning out to be quite amazing in early box office returns.
The Sony Pictures film, starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, opened with a reported $35 million, setting a record for a Tuesday opening.
That easily topped previous record-holder The Transformers, which brought in $27.8 million in 2007.

you also have to take into account that the price of a movie ticket has gone up nearly 16% in the five years since Transformers opened while it's gone up 615% since Camelot was released 45 years ago when a movie ticket was $1.20 nearly 26 million people in the US saw that film or roughly the same amount of people that saw the Avengers it's openning weekend over a normal 3 day weekend while this film opened on a 6 day holiday weekend so it could conceivably tie or break the Avengers record within months of it being set
