Andy Griffith Dies at 86

Andy Griffith has died.

The TV legend was 86.

He died at his home in North Carolina on Tuesday morning, his close friend Bill Friday confirmed.

No official cause of death was given.

Griffith was one of the most beloved television actors of the past half-century, first on 'The Andy Griffith Show' and later on the long-running series 'Matlock.'

In May, Griffith's good friend and co-star George Lindsey, who starred as Goober Pyle on the show, died.

  • I grew up watching Andy. He will be missed sooo much. He was a wonderul man with a kind heart and a sweet spirit. Praying for his family and loved ones.

  • Most of us watched him on TV growing up, and had a feeling we knew him personally. Over the years whenever I'm flipping channels and happen upon Mayberry I stop and instantly go back to that time in my life ' watching and learning a lesson, with laughter and love. Thank you Andy Griffith, you are a Nation Treasure.

  • I also watched reruns of the Andy Griffith Show and watched Matlock. He will be missed by all. RIP Andy Griffith!
