BOX OFFICEArgo topped a crowded box office that was weakened by Hurricane Sandy's threatening ascent up the East Coast.
Ben Affleck's true story CIA thriller earned $12.5 million, beating the Tom Hanks-Halle Berry new release Cloud Atlas, which took second place and a $9.6 million haul.
The animated Hotel Transylvania secured third with $9.1 million.
Fourth and fifth places went to two horror flicks ' Paranormal Activity 4 and Silent Hill: Revelation 3D ' which raked in a close $8.6 million and $8.5 million, respectively.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Liam Neeson's mad dad sequel Taken 2 ($8.2 million), Here Comes The Boom ($5.5 million), Alex Cross ($5.3 million), Sinister ($5 million), and Pitch Perfect ($4 million).
