Wreck-It Ralph Wins Weekend Box Office

Wreck-It Ralph is king of the box office.

The animated new release about the trials and tribulations of being a video game villain easily won the weekend with $50 million in ticket sales, beating the debut of Denzel Washington's drama Flight, which came in a distant second with $25 million.

Ben Affleck's political thriller Argo nabbed third place with $10.3 million.

The martial arts extravaganza The Man with the Iron Fists and Taken 2 came in fourth and fifth with $8.4 million and $6 million, respectively.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Cloud Atlas ($5.3 million), Hotel Transylvania ($4.4 million), Paranormal Activity 4 ($4.3 million), the Kevin James comedy Here Comes The Boom ($3.7 million), and Silent Hill: Revelation ($3.1 million).

  • movies only make so much at the box office nowadays because of ticket prices though Cat On A Hot Tin Roof made a killing at the box office in 1958 when the average full price ticket was $0.51 as in 17.5 million which means more than 34 million people saw it while if it were re released in theaters next year for it's emerald anniversary it would net nearly 300,000,000
